How do I decide what salary to enter when applying for a job?

On Get on Board job applications, as a professional you enter a salary expectation that recruiters see alongside the rest of your application.

Use the format shown in the form

The application form tells you whether the job expects gross or net salary and always asks for a monthly amount in USD. Follow the format shown there so the company can compare applications consistently.

If you need help with gross vs. net, see Should the salary expectation when applying for a job be net or gross?

Choose a realistic number

  • Check the salary range on the job posting if it is visible.
  • Research market rates for your role, seniority, and location.
  • Enter an amount you would genuinely accept, not a negotiation anchor.

What if my number is outside the range?

If your expectation is far above the role’s range, the form may show a warning. A very high or very low number can reduce your chances of being shortlisted.
